# Create Videos

> Generate videos from a Chat prompt or use an animated Studio scene to guide the camera, movement, and composition.

**Access:** Signed in

Ask the Spatial Agent to generate a video from your description, or animate a
scene in Studio and use its rendered video as a reference.

## Choose how to start

**Access:** Signed in

* **Start in Chat** to turn an idea into a video quickly. Describe the subject,
  action, camera movement, and visual style.
* **Start in Studio** to arrange the scene and demonstrate how the shot should
  move. Render your animation, click **Add to chat**, and describe the finished
  look you want.

You can also ask [Codex to carry out the Studio workflow through
WebMCP](/use-codex-with-webmcp).

## Generate a video from a prompt

**Access:** Signed in

1. Open **New chat** in the Project you want to use.
2. Describe your video in the Spatial Agent's prompt box.
3. Include the subject, action, camera movement, and visual style. Add a
   duration, landscape or portrait format, and sound or dialogue when they matter.
4. Send your prompt.

For example:

```text theme={null}
Generate an 8-second cinematic product video of a silver perfume bottle on a stone pedestal. The camera slowly circles the bottle. Use warm evening light, realistic reflections, and a softly blurred background. Landscape format, with gentle ambient sound and no dialogue.
```

Mint generates the video and adds a playable result to the chat.

You can also attach an image to guide the result. Explain how Mint should use
it, such as the starting image or a reference for the product's appearance.

## Generate a video from a Studio animation

**Access:** Signed in

Use Studio to show where subjects belong and how the camera or objects should
move. A simple scene can provide the structure for a more detailed generated
video.

### Build and animate the shot

1. Open your Project in **Studio**. Arrange the objects and add or position a
   camera to frame the shot. For a product video, start with a simple bottle
   shape on a pedestal.
2. Select the object or camera you want to animate.
3. Move the timeline playhead to the beginning, set the starting position and
   rotation, and click **Insert keyframe**.
4. Move the playhead to a later time, change the object's or camera's position
   or rotation, and click **Insert keyframe** again. For example, move the
   camera around the bottle while keeping it in frame.
5. Use **Play preview** to check the framing, movement, and timing.

### Render the animation

1. Click **Render** in the timeline.
2. In **Render animation**, choose the **Camera** and **Animation**.
3. Set the **Time range**, resolution, and frame rate for your output.
4. Click **Render**. Keep the Project tab open while rendering finishes.
5. When you see **Your render is ready**, play the clip and wait for
   **Saved to Renders**.

### Add the render to Chat

1. Click **Add to chat** in the completed render dialog.
2. Check that the rendered video is attached to the Project's chat draft.
3. Write a prompt describing the finished look and how Mint should use the
   reference. Then send the message.

For example:

```text theme={null}
Use the attached Studio render to guide the camera movement, timing, and object placement. Turn the bottle into polished silver with realistic reflections, and the pedestal into weathered limestone. Add warm evening light and a softly blurred background. Keep the bottle centered throughout the shot.
```

**Add to chat** attaches the reference. Sending your prompt starts the
generation workflow.

## Review the appearance Preview

**Access:** Signed in

When you use a Studio render to guide the camera and movement, Mint first
creates an appearance **Preview** from the render's first frame. This image
shows the intended materials, lighting, and visual style.

When approval is required, review the image and ask for changes if needed.
Click **Generate Video** when the Preview looks right. With automatic
generation enabled, Mint continues after the Preview is ready. Editing a
Preview returns it to review before final video generation.

The appearance Preview guides the finished look, while your Studio animation
guides the camera and motion. The generated video may vary from the reference.

## Revise a generated video

**Access:** Signed in

Continue in the same chat and describe what you want to change:

```text theme={null}
Create another take with cooler lighting and a darker background. Keep the original camera direction.
```

Mint carries forward the previous brief, settings, and original references
unless you change them. You do not need to attach the original images again.
If you started with a Studio render, it continues to guide the camera and
subject placement. The previous take can also guide appearance; Mint tells you
if it cannot be included as an extra reference.

You can ask for dialogue suggestions before generating, such as "Can you
suggest better wording?" Select a suggestion or say "use that" to apply it to
the video you were discussing. Each revision creates a new video, so its frames
may differ from the original.

## Credits and troubleshooting

**Access:** Signed in

Studio rendering, appearance Preview generation, and final video generation
have separate Credit costs. Check the current render quote, generation
settings, and any Credits or plan messages before continuing.

* **Add to chat is unavailable:** Wait for **Saved to Renders**. If saving
  failed, use **Retry save**. Check the button's message for a reference-duration
  limit or unavailable Project chat, and adjust the render or reopen the Project
  as needed.
* **The video is attached but generation has not started:** Add your prompt and
  send the message.
* **Mint is waiting at an appearance Preview:** Review it and click
  **Generate Video** when ready.
* **You want different camera movement or timing:** Adjust the Studio animation,
  render it again, and attach the new render to your next prompt.

## Generate through API or MCP

You can also generate videos through the [Videos API](/developers/videos) or [Mint MCP](/integrations/mcp#generate-videos). Both support text, image, first/last-frame, and reference-guided clips, with duration, aspect ratio, audio, and preset controls. These generation endpoints start directly without an appearance Preview.
